DR Congo: Over a Dozen Civilians Killed by ADF Rebels (New Report)

The Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) have launched attacks on multiple localities in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), resulting in the deaths of at least fifteen individuals, according to a recent report from the Congolese radio station Okapi.

The assaults took place during the night from Sunday to Monday near the city of Beni (North Kivu), along the Mbau-Kamango road. Reports indicate that several people remain missing.

Initial reports had confirmed nine fatalities.

Troops from the joint forces of the DRC army and Ugandan military have been deployed to the region and have been engaged in combat with the ADF for nearly a month, as the rebels attempt to push westward following a series of defeats.

The joint forces have successfully dismantled several significant rebel bases and are currently working to disrupt ADF operations within the country.
