Dozens Killed as Zionist Strikes Hit Lebanon Amid Rising Regional Tensions

At least 31 people were killed and 149 others injured on Monday morning by Zionist strikes targeting southern Lebanon and Beirut’s southern suburbs, the Lebanese Health Ministry said, amid escalation tensions in the Middle East in the wake of US-“Israeli” joint attacks on Iran.

Earlier, Hezbollah said it fired missiles from Lebanon into the Zionist entity in response to the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and “repeated Israeli aggressions.”

Accordingly, Lebanon’s government is holding an emergency meeting, and is being attended by the army chief, Gen. Rudolph Haikal.

Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that the Cabinet will discuss the volatile situation and the measures it plans to take.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the “Israeli” attacks but also warned against Lebanon being used as a platform for wars “we have nothing to do with”, saying it would “expose our nation once more to dangers”.

“This is something the state will not allow to be repeated and will not accept,” Aoun said.

The tit-for-tat attacks, which follow a U.S.-brokered ceasefire in 2024, is expected to widen the conflict that has spread through the Middle East, sending oil prices soaring and snarling air travel.
