Doctors Without Borders Accuses EU of Complicity in Gaza Ethnic Cleansing

BRUSSELS – Doctors Without Borders (MSF) on Thursday issued a sharp condemnation of the European Union, accusing the bloc of complicity in  orchestrated ethnic cleansing in Gaza. The group decried the EU’s continued inaction amid what it called deliberate mass suffering, warning that failure to act now amounts to enabling genocide.

In a post on X, MSF revealed it had sent an open letter to EU leaders on June 16, urging immediate and decisive intervention to halt the atrocities in the besieged Palestinian enclave. “The EU can and must act now to stop mass atrocities in Gaza,” the organization said. “Yet, amid EU member states’ inaction, orchestrated ethnic cleansing in Gaza continues.”

MSF reported that over 60,000 Palestinians have been killed since the start of the Zionist offensive in late October 2023, including 12 MSF staff members. The most recent staffer was killed on July 3 while trying to retrieve a bag of flour. “Humanitarian aid is weaponised and blocked. Healthcare services are targeted daily,” the organization stated, adding that the suffering and starvation in Gaza are intentional.

The EU Foreign Affairs Council’s latest conclusions, adopted Tuesday, were dismissed by MSF as more evidence of the bloc’s unwillingness to exert pressure on the Zionist entity. “Once again, the EU demonstrated hypocrisy and shocking double standards when it comes to protecting civilians and ensuring the respect of international humanitarian law,” MSF said, calling on the EU to match its rhetoric with meaningful action.

The letter was addressed to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Charles Michel, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, and EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas. Despite growing outrage, EU member states failed to reach a consensus this week on suspending the EU-‘Israel’ Association Agreement or imposing sanctions on the Zionist entity.

The Zionist entity continues to reject ceasefire calls as it carries out a brutal campaign that has flattened much of Gaza, with nearly 58,600 Palestinians confirmed killed—mostly women and children. The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Zionist officials, while the International Court of Justice is hearing a genocide case against the Zionist entity.
