December 11, 1960 Protests Marked End of French Colonial Illusions

ALGIERS – The Speaker of the Algerian Council of the Nation (Upper House of Parliament), Salah Goudjil said that the 64th anniversary of the demonstrations of December 11, 1960 was an opportunity to remember the achievements of the Algerian people in the face of the massacres of the French colonizer and his attempts to impose false solutions as an alternative to independence.

“On the occasion of the demonstrations of December 11, 1960, we recall the deeds of the Algerian people in the face of the massacres of the French colonizer and his attempts to impose false solutions as an alternative to independence,” wrote Goudjil on his social medial account.

“The people’s uprising dispelled illusions and their message vividly remind us the destiny of peoples is not dictated by interests, and that victory can only be achieved with freedom of decision. Long live Algeria”, he said.
