Czech tennis player Karolina Muchova, currently ranked 52nd in the world, secured her place in the semifinals of the US Open on Wednesday, defeating Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad, ranked 21st, with a score of 6-1, 6-4.
At 28 years old, Muchova returns to the semifinals at Flushing Meadows, having been eliminated last year by eventual champion Coco Gauff. This year, she will face either world No. 1 Iga Swiatek from Poland, who defeated her in last year’s French Open final, or American Jessica Pegula, ranked 6th, in Thursday’s match.
