VALENCIA (Spain), February 7, 2025 – FC Barcelona delivered a resounding 5-0 victory over Valencia on Thursday, advancing to the semifinals of the Copa del Rey alongside Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, and Real Sociedad.
Fielding a rotated squad, Barça showcased their superiority at the Mestalla, with Spanish forward Ferran Torres, a former Valencia player, scoring a hat trick within the first thirty minutes (3rd, 17th, and 30th minutes). Fermin Lopez (23rd minute) and Lamine Yamal (59th minute) contributed two additional goals to the scoreline.
The Catalan giants, the most successful club in the competition’s history with 31 titles, have now joined Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, and Real Sociedad in the final four.
Earlier on Thursday, Real Sociedad secured their place by comfortably defeating their neighbors Osasuna 2-0. Goals from Ander Barrenetxea (21st minute) and Brais Mendez (31st minute) sealed the win, despite playing with a numerical advantage since the 35th minute.
The “Txuri-urdin” are now hoping to replicate Athletic Bilbao’s success from last year, when they triumphed after eliminating both Barça and Atlético in succession.
