Commencement of Arab League Emergency Meeting on Gaza

The Arab League Council began its extraordinary session at the level of permanent delegates on Tuesday, following a request from the State of Palestine. This meeting comes amid a year-long escalation of Zionist aggression against Palestinians, as reported by the Palestinian news agency Wafa.
The session is being held in response to the ongoing genocidal acts perpetrated by occupying forces against the Palestinian people. These atrocities have included forced displacements, widespread destruction throughout the Gaza Strip, and famine, all aimed at the extermination of Palestinians, particularly in the northern region of the enclave.
The Palestinian delegation is led by Mohannad Al-Aklouk, the representative to the Arab League. On Sunday, Palestine submitted an urgent request for this extraordinary session of the Arab League Council to convene “as soon as possible.”
Mohannad Al-Aklouk stressed that the Arab League must fulfill its responsibilities in light of the unprecedented Zionist crimes in history, which pose “a genuine threat to national and Arab security as a whole.” In addition to the numerous martyrs and injured Palestinians, the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip over the past year has resulted in extensive destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure, coupled with a deadly famine
