Collapse of Nightclub Roof in Santo Domingo: Death Toll Reaches 218 (Updated)

Local authorities reported on Thursday that the death toll from the collapse of a nightclub in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, has risen to 218. Juan Manuel Méndez, director of the Emergency Operations Center (COE), confirmed that 218 individuals have lost their lives, while 189 people have been rescued.

“Our rescuers are concluding their search operations,” he stated, adding that officials have ruled out the possibility of finding any additional survivors. The government has announced plans to launch an investigation into this tragedy once the rescue efforts have been completed.
