China Targets 10,000 5G-Powered Factories by 2027

The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has announced a groundbreaking plan to establish 10,000 factories powered by 5G technology and 20 pilot cities dedicated to the integrated application of “5G + Industrial Internet” by 2027.

This initiative aims to advance industrial modernization through the convergence of cutting-edge information and communication technologies.

The plan focuses on building a robust industrial network system centered on 5G, integrated into key economic sectors. It targets advancements in network infrastructure, technological innovation, integrated applications, industrial ecosystems, and public services.

Tang Libo of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology highlighted the critical role of 5G-A, AI, and industrial computing in developing the new industrial framework.

China has already achieved significant progress, launching over 17,000 5G + industrial internet projects across 41 industries. More than 4,000 5G-powered factories are operational, with 700 recognized for excellence. This ambitious plan solidifies China’s leadership in leveraging 5G to drive industrial efficiency, innovation, and sustainability.
