China: Over One Million People Displaced by Typhoon “Yagi”

Chinese authorities announced on Saturday that more than one million citizens have been displaced from their homes in the southern part of the country due to Typhoon “Yagi,” which impacted Hainan and Guangdong provinces.
According to China Global Television Network (CGTN), over 400,000 individuals have been evacuated from their residences in Hainan, alongside the closure of 89 tourist sites. In Guangdong, more than 700,000 residents have also been compelled to leave their homes as a result of the typhoon.
The network reported that Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for intensified efforts to respond to this disaster. It was noted that central authorities have allocated 720 million Chinese yuan to aid in addressing the aftermath of the devastation.
Thus far, Typhoon “Yagi” has claimed four lives and resulted in numerous injuries, leading to power outages in certain areas and the shutdown of several roads and major railway routes. The typhoon struck Hainan and Guangdong provinces on Friday, bringing heavy rainfall and winds exceeding 234 kilometers per hour.
