China opposes U.S. export restrictions and warns EU on EV talks

BEIJING – China’s commerce ministry expressed strong opposition on Monday to the U.S. decision to add several Chinese companies to its export restriction lists.

A ministry spokesperson called on the U.S. to immediately “correct its wrongdoings,” asserting that China will take necessary measures to protect the legitimate interests of its firms.

Recently, the U.S. Commerce Department added six Chinese companies to its Entity List and placed three more on its “Unverified List.”

In parallel, China renewed its warnings to the European Union, stating that if the bloc engages in separate negotiations with electric vehicle companies while in talks with China, it would “shake mutual trust” and disrupt the overall negotiations.

This warning follows a similar statement made earlier this month and comes just days after China and the EU agreed to resume technical discussions on potential alternatives to tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles (EVs).

Both sides clarified that price commitments would remain central to resolving the dispute, and the ministry announced that the next phase of consultations has begun.

Last Friday, Beijing expressed its eagerness for the EU team to visit China as soon as possible.
