China Dismisses US Pressure Over Russian Energy Trade

US attempts to pressure China into halting purchases of Russian energy will not affect existing contracts between the two countries, Li Yihong, Chargée d’Affaires at China’s Permanent Mission to the WTO, told Sputnik.
Li emphasized that China–Russia relations are “comprehensive and deep,” a stance reaffirmed at the highest political levels. He noted that Beijing remains committed to its strategic partnership with Moscow, particularly in the energy sector, which both countries consider vital to their long-term cooperation.
Earlier this month, the US administration urged the EU to impose tariffs of up to 100% on China and India as part of its broader campaign to pressure them into reducing imports of Russian oil. Despite these efforts, China has made clear that its cooperation with Russia will continue unaffected.
