ALGIERS – General Saïd Chanegriha, the Deputy Minister to the Minister of National Defense, Chief of Staff of the Algerian People’s National Army (PNA), extended his congratulations on Tuesday to all members of the People’s National Army on the occasion of the National Day of the Mujahid, commemorated annually on August 20.
In the text of the congratulatory message published by the Algerian Ministry of Defense, General Saïd Chanegriha emphasized that this national day — which commemorates two pivotal historical events in the glorious history of our revolution, namely the “North-Constantine Offensive” and the “Soummam Congress” — is “a cherished occasion through which we fulfill our duty of gratitude, loyalty, and appreciation to the virtuous mujahideen of Algeria who achieved independence through iron and fire. They embodied the truest examples of heroism and nobility for their people and homeland, raised the national flag high, rebuilt the foundations of the Algerian state, and preserved its republican character during the most difficult times.”
“Today, we renew our pledge to uphold their trust, to draw inspiration from their noble national values in steadfastness on positions and principles, to strengthen national unity, and to preserve the national memory, which is the pure source from which we draw the motives of our strength in facing all current and future challenges,” he said.
“This national occasion is also a renewed opportunity that reminds all of us in the People’s National Army of the duty of sacrifice for the homeland and the necessity to exert the necessary efforts to preserve its independence and safeguard its unity, by continuing to work on developing the performance of our armed forces to the desired level, which will ensure the security and safety of our proud people, and allow our country to continue its journey towards achieving more economic, social, and civilizational successes, especially in light of the uncertain geopolitical contexts the world is experiencing today,” he added.
General Saïd Chanegriha called on the members of the People’s National Army, the descendants of the free men and women of Algeria, to take pride in the noble deeds of their honorable ancestors and to emulate their glorious paths, “because our homeland today is in greater need than ever of all its loyal sons, in order to continue the march towards building a strong, proud, and victorious Algeria, one that is proud of its history and eager to achieve further progress and prosperity.” He urged them “to stand in reverence, respect, and prayer for the souls of our righteous martyrs — the martyrs of the popular resistance, the glorious liberation revolution, and the national duty — whose sacrifices for Algeria and its people will remain a source of inspiration for succeeding generations.”
