Chief of Staff of Algerian Army Monitors Successful Launch of ‘Alsat-3B’ Satellite

Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Deputy Minister to the Minister of Defence and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army monitored on Saturday morning from the Ground Station for Remote Sensing, the launch operation of the second satellite, “Alsat-3B”.
This was part of strengthening and developing national capabilities in the field of space surveillance, and in completion of the structuring of the high-resolution Earth observation system “Alsat-3,” the Algerian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
General Chanegriha listened to presentations and briefings on the satellite “Alsat-3B,” in the presence of the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, the Director of the Algerian Space Agency, the Inspector General of the Army, and two central directors from the Ministry of National Defense and the People’s National Army staff, the statement said.
He then proceeded to follow the launch operation of the second satellite, “Alsat-3B,” at 5:01 a.m. local time and 12:01 a.m. China time. This launch comes following the success of the launch of the satellite “Alsat-3A” on January 15, from the Jiuquan Launch Base in northwestern China, the statement said, adding that this marks a “remarkable achievement and another milestone on the path toward building a new and triumphant Algeria.”
“I am pleased, following the successful launch of the satellite ‘Alsat-3B,’ which we observed this morning, Saturday, January 31, 2026, and which comes after the successful launch of the satellite ‘Alsat-3A’ on January 15 of this month, to convey to you the congratulations and encouragement of Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defense, who has given special attention to this project and closely followed all stages of the preparation and realization of these achievements,” General Chanegriha said.
“I would also like, in my own name, to extend my sincerest congratulations and best wishes to the staff and employees of the Algerian Space Agency, as well as to the various departments and experts of the People’s National Army who contributed to the realization of these projects. I urge everyone to make optimal use of the knowledge and expertise gained, which will ensure effective management of these satellites—not only in terms of their operation and monitoring of their various subsystems, but also in continuing the development of space technology in Algeria,” he added.
General Chanegriha noted that “these remarkable achievements also represent another milestone on the path toward building a new and triumphant Algeria, much like what we will witness tomorrow at Gara Djebilet, on the occasion of the inauguration of the railway line between Béchar and Tindouf. This line will play a major role in the exploitation of this important mine and offers a true image of an ascending Algeria, confident in its decisions and choices.”
He also extended his sincerest thanks and appreciation to the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China for the seriousness with which China has engaged in cooperation with Algeria to realize this ambitious project, as well as in the various structured projects contributing to the country’s developmental momentum.
