Charleroi Airport Strike Continues, Cancelling All Flights Friday

The strike at Charleroi Airport, Belgium’s second-largest airport in terms of passenger traffic, will continue on Friday following the cancellation of all flights on Thursday due to the ongoing labor dispute, as announced by the operating company BSCA.
“In the interest of safety and due to a lack of staff, all flights departing from and arriving at Charleroi Airport are canceled,” the airport stated in a press release.
The conflict between airport staff and management centers on working conditions. A meeting between management and union representatives is scheduled for Friday morning in an effort to resolve the dispute, according to the announcement.
Charleroi Airport services over 190 destinations, primarily within the Mediterranean region, and reports an annual traffic of eight million passengers. It ranks as Belgium’s second-largest airport, following Brussels-Zaventem.
