CHAN-2024 (postponed to 2025) : Algeria Wraps Up Preparations Ahead of Niger Clash

The Algerian home-based national football team (A’) completed their final preparations on Sunday evening ahead of their decisive clash against Niger, scheduled for Monday at 18:00 at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, as part of the 5th and final matchday of Group C in the African Nations Championship (CHAN-2024, postponed to 2025).
The last training session was held in the evening at the Police Sacco Stadium in cool weather conditions. Head coach Madjid Bougherra had the full squad at his disposal and used the final session to fine-tune tactical details, according to the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) on its official website. A draw will be enough for Algeria to secure a place in the quarter-finals, regardless of the outcome of the other Group C match between Uganda and South Africa. The Algeria-Niger match will be officiated by Tanzanian referee Ahmed Ally Arajiga, assisted by Zambia’s Diana Chikotesha and Gambia’s Abdulaziz Bollel Jawo, with Eritrea’s Teklu Mogos Tsegay as the fourth official.
The other Group C fixture will see South Africa take on Uganda at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala (18:00), while Guinea has a rest day on this final matchday of the group stage. After four rounds, Uganda leads the group with 6 points, one ahead of Algeria and South Africa, both on 5 points. Guinea sits on 4 points, and Niger, with just 1 point, has already been eliminated. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals, scheduled for August 22 and 23. (APS)
