The President of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), Amara Charaf-Eddine affirmed that “Algeria will host CHAN-2023,” sweeping aside rumors about the relocation of the African Nations Championship involving local players.
“CHAN 2023 will take place in Algeria in 2023. Ivory Coast made a communication mistake,” he told APS.
The Ivorian government said in a statement published Wednesday evening on its official website that CHAN 2023 would be held in Ivory Coast.
The government statement was issued at the end of a visit by a mission of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), led by its Secretary-General Mosengo-Omba Veron to inspect the preparations for the 34th Africa Cup of Nations CAN-2023 (June 23-July 23).
