Central African Republic: MINUSCA Deploys Over 200 Additional Troops to the Southeast

BANGUI – The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) announced Wednesday the deployment of 203 Central African Armed Forces (FACA) soldiers to the country’s southeastern region.
According to MINUSCA spokesperson Florence Marchal, the deployment—carried out by air—targeted the towns of Obo, Zémio, and Mboki in the Haut-Mbomou prefecture and surrounding areas.
The move aims to strengthen the military presence in a region currently facing a resurgence of insecurity. “In line with its mandate, MINUSCA continues its efforts to protect civilians and support Central African authorities,” Marchal emphasized.
She also noted that over 200 patrols were conducted last week across Haut-Mbomou by UN peacekeepers as part of stepped-up field operations.
