CAN 2025: Algeria Dominates Togo (5-1)

Algeria’s national football team has significantly improved its chances of qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations finals (CAN 2025), following a decisive 5-1 victory over Togo in a third-round qualifying match held at the 19 May Stadium in Annaba, eastern Algeria.

Togo initially took the lead with an early goal from Klidjé in the 11th minute. However, Saïd Benrahma equalized with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area in the 29th minute.

In the second half, Benrahma converted a penalty, awarded for a foul on Bounedjah, into a goal in the 55th minute. The Algerian offense surged forward, with Houssem Aouar adding a third goal in the 68th minute.

The scoring continued as substitute Amine Gouiri netted the fourth goal in the 86th minute. Just before the final whistle, Mohamed Amine Amoura capped off the scoring with a fifth goal.

Algeria will face Togo again on Monday in the return leg, which is set to take place in the Togolese capital, Lomé, as part of the fourth round of qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
