Cameroon Sends Over 1,000 Blue Helmets for CAR Stabilization Mission

The 12th Cameroonian contingent of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) is set to be deployed to the Central African Republic (CAR), according to official sources.

A statement from the Cameroonian Ministry of Defense indicated that Minister Joseph Beti Assomo presided over the flag-raising ceremony for the 12th MINUSCA contingent on Thursday at the Peacekeeping Operations Training School in Motcheboum, located in the eastern region of Cameroon, as part of the 2025 rotation.

Local media reports indicate that this contingent comprises 1,300 soldiers tasked with protecting and assisting civilians over a one-year period. In his address to the troops, Beti Assomo urged them to remain “professional, united, and fully focused on their missions.”

He underscored the significance of discipline and honor, announcing that strict penalties will be enforced for those who fail to comply with directives from military leadership.

Cameroon’s involvement with MINUSCA began in 2014, with the 11th battalion completing its mandate on August 28. The Cameroonian blue helmets received UN medals for their exemplary commitment to stabilization efforts in the CAR.
