Brazil League: Flamengo Clinches 8th Title

Flamengo clinched the Brazilian championship on Wednesday after their 1–0 victory over Ceará at the Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro, just days after winning the Copa Libertadores, South America’s main club competition.

The Carioca club finished the season with 78 points, five more than their closest rival, Palmeiras.

This is Flamengo’s eighth national title (1980, 1982, 1983, 1992, 2009, 2019, 2020, 2025), making them the joint-most successful club in Brazil at this level alongside Santos FC, only behind Palmeiras, which has 12 championships.

By winning both the Copa Libertadores and the Brazilian league in the same season, Flamengo becomes one of the few clubs to achieve the continental+domestic double — a feat previously accomplished by Santos in 1962 and 1963, Flamengo itself in 2019, and Botafogo in 2024.

Flamengo now prepares to compete in the Intercontinental Cup, where they will face the Mexican club Cruz Azul, winner of the CONCACAF Champions Cup. The winner of that match is expected to face the European champion (currently Paris Saint-Germain) in the final, scheduled for 17 December in Doha.
