
ALGIERS — The speaker of the Algerian People’s National Assembly (Parliament’s lower house), Brahim Boughali, received Wednesday the chairman of the Internal and External Affairs Committee of the Qatari Shura Council, Yousef bin Ali Al-Khater, who is on an official visit to Algeria through May 30, the lower house said in a statement.
The meeting took place at the headquarters of the lower house. In this respect, Boughali expressed satisfaction with the cordial relations between the two countries, highlighting “the strong political will of the leaders of the two countries to develop and strengthen ties across various fields.”
On the parliamentary level, he underscored “the high level of coordination and exchange between the parliaments of the two countries,” committing “to activate the cooperation protocol between the two legislative institutions to further enhance these relations,” the same source said.
Boughali also commended “the efforts of the State of Qatar in supporting the Palestinian cause,” urging “increased joint action to end the massacres being committed against the Palestinian people.”
For his part, Yousef bin Ali Al-Khater praised the longstanding relations between the two countries, calling for “developing them notably in the economic field through joint investments.”
He further noted “Algeria’s courageous positions in favor of just causes worldwide, notably the Palestinian cause,” hailing the Algerian people as “exemplars of resistance and struggle.”
