Blinken Expresses Hope for Gaza Ceasefire Amid Lingering Challenges

With only a month left in office, outgoing US Secretary of State Antony Blinken voiced cautious optimism on Wednesday about brokering a ceasefire in Gaza.
Speaking at the Council on Foreign Relations, Blinken pledged to dedicate his remaining time to ending the 14-month conflict. However, he acknowledged the repeated setbacks and avoided predicting the likelihood of success, emphasizing the urgent need for peace.
Blinken reiterated that a ceasefire would serve Zionist long-term interests and called for a post-war governance framework to prevent prolonged Zionist involvement in Gaza. While US President Joe Biden faces criticism from within his party for not pressuring the zionist entity more, Blinken underscored the importance of a sustainable solution.
The Zionist aggression has had devastating consequences. Zionist strikes in Gaza have resulted in over 45,000 deaths, predominantly civilians. The United Nations reports that nearly 90% of Gaza’s population has been displaced, with much of the enclave reduced to rubble. As the US transitions to a new administration under President-elect Donald Trump, Blinken remains determined to use every opportunity to push for an agreement.
