Blinken expected in UK following decision to suspend some British arms exports to the Zionist occupation

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is due to arrive in the United Kingdom on Monday, a week after Britain suspended some arms export licenses to the Zionist entity.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s government announced on Sept. 2 its decision to suspend 30 of its 350 arms export licenses to the Zionist occupation, including military planes, helicopters, and drones, along with items used for ground targeting, while excluding the F-35 fighter jet program.

Foreign Secretary David Lammy stated that the UK government has determined there is a “clear risk” that some items could be used to “commit or facilitate a serious violation of international humanitarian law.”

On Sept. 7, tens of thousands of pro-Palestine protestors marched in central London over the ongoing Zionist occupation’s attacks in Gaza and the West Bank, calling the government to impose a full arms embargo.

“Grave violations of IHL (International Humanitarian Law) require a full arms embargo, and we will continue working with the UK government, parliament, and civil society towards that end,” said Husam Zomlot, the Palestinian ambassador to the United Kingdom.

On the other hand, British Defence Secretary John Healey stated that the suspension decision does not change the UK’s “unshakeable commitment” to support the Zionist entity.
