Biography of Algeria’s Presidential Election Candidate Youcef Aouchiche

Youcef Aouchiche is a prominent figure in the Algerian political scene and the presidential candidate for the Algerian Socialist Forces Front (FFS) in the upcoming elections. Born on January 29, 1983, Aouchiche graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Algiers, specializing in international relaions.
Aouchiche began his professional career as a journalist, working for an Algerian daily newspaper from 2008 to 2012. In 2012, he transitioned to parliamentary work, serving as a parliamentary assistant until 2017.
In 2017, Youcef Aouchiche was elected President of the Provincial People’s Assembly (APW) of Tizi Ouzou, a position to which he was re-elected in 2021. He was elected as a member of the Algerian Council of the Nation in 2022.
Beyond his legislative work, Youcef Aouchiche has played a significant role in the organizational structure of the Algerian Socialist Forces Front. He has held several leadership positions within the party, starting as the National Secretary for Civic Movement from 2011 to 2013, then as the National Secretary for Media and Communication from 2013 to 2016, and later as the National Secretary for Organization from 2016 to 2017. He also served as Acting National Secretary in 2014 and 2016 before being officially appointed as National Secretary in 2024.
