Australian Prime Minister Reaffirms Recognition of Palestine, Calls for Gaza Ceasefire

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed that his country remains committed to the principle of a two-state solution in the Middle East, while reiterating support for Palestine amid the ongoing Zionist aggression on Gaza.
In an interview, Albanese explained that Australia seeks an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the release of all prisoners. He stressed that his government will continue to advocate for a two-state solution that allows Palestinians to live in peace and security, while also raising its voice in international forums to achieve this goal. He underlined that although Australia is not a major power in the Middle East, it does not sell weapons to the Zionist entity.
The Australian leader further noted that Canberra has supported initiatives to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, either through direct communication with the Zionist forces or in coordination with international forums. It is worth recalling that on August 11, Albanese announced his intention to recognize Palestine as an independent state during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly session in September.
