Australian PM Condemns Zionist Actions in Gaza, Calls Situation “Completely Unacceptable”

CANBERRA – Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Wednesday denounced the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, describing the widespread starvation and loss of life as “completely unacceptable” and warning that the Zionist actions cannot be justified. Speaking to ABC, Albanese noted that the Zionist entity’s March decision to restrict the flow of humanitarian aid has directly contributed to the current catastrophe, emphasizing that such measures are inconsistent with international law.
Responding to a question about whether the deliberate starvation of civilians constitutes a war crime, the prime minister said, “It’s certainly not something that’s consistent with international law.” He highlighted that despite media restrictions, the world is witnessing on television the severe suffering, starvation, and deaths in Gaza, including people being killed while attempting to obtain food and water. “In 2025, that’s completely unacceptable,” he stressed.
Albanese reiterated on Tuesday that Zionist actions in Gaza are yielding the same devastating outcomes: the deaths of innocent civilians, displacement, and violence. He further announced on Monday that Australia will formally recognize Palestine at the UN General Assembly in September, signaling a significant policy shift in Canberra’s approach to the conflict.
