Australia Bans Social Media Access for Children Under 16

Australia has implemented a nationwide ban on social media access for children under 16, aiming to offer better protection for young Australians during critical stages of their development.

Under the new regulation, social media platforms are responsible for ensuring that children under 16 cannot create accounts. These companies are required to enforce measures to prevent underage users from accessing their services.

Currently, Australia is the only country to impose such a broad social media age restriction, although some US states have enacted similar censorship measures.
