As part of his participation in the high-level segment of the United Nations General Assembly, Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held bilateral meetings today in New York with the foreign ministers of several friendly European countries.
In this context, Minister Attaf met with Slovenia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon; Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares; and the Netherlands’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, David van Weel. His meeting with the Slovenian foreign minister focused on ways to implement the outcomes of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s state visit to Slovenia last May, particularly regarding preparations for the first session of the joint intergovernmental committee. At the multilateral level, both sides stressed the importance of maintaining coordination during their current tenure on the UN Security Council, especially within the elected members group (E-10).
Talks between Attaf and the Spanish foreign minister reviewed progress made in strengthening the bilateral partnership between Algeria and Spain, particularly in economic areas and other priority fields. Meanwhile, Attaf’s meeting with his Dutch counterpart focused on the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for enhancing their momentum, in addition to discussing a number of regional issues of common concern.
