Attaf: Algeria has not received any official correspondence from the ICJ regarding the filing of any complaint against it

ALGIERS – Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, denied on Saturday receiving any correspondence from the International Court of Justice regarding what was circulated about the court receiving a complaint from the authorities in Mali against Algeria.

At a press conference held at the ministry headquarters, Ahmed Attaf responded to media outlets circulating news claiming that the International Court of Justice had received a complaint from the authorities in Bamako (Mali) against Algeria.

“Algeria has not received any correspondence from the court regarding this matter,” Attaf said, adding that the international body itself denied the existence of such a request. He clarified that the International Court of Justice notifies the concerned state if there is a complaint filed against it.

“If there was a request from Mali to file a case concerning another state, that state would have been officially notified of this request, and there is no correspondence on this matter,” Attaf said.
