At Least 20 Killed in Series of Attacks in Central Nigeria

At least 20 people were killed this week in a series of attacks in Nigeria’s central Plateau State, local authorities confirmed on Wednesday.
“Three separate attacks occurred in this area earlier this week. Eight people were killed Tuesday evening in the village of Chinchin,” said Emmanuel Bala, head of the local council.
The Chinchin incident followed another attack on Tuesday near the town of Langai, where five people were killed. On Monday, unidentified assailants killed seven individuals in Bwe district.
Land disputes and socio-political tensions between sedentary communities and those considered outsiders have fueled decades-long conflict in Nigeria’s central belt, particularly in Plateau and Benue states.
