Army-Civilian Cohesion Mirrors Algeria’s Internal Strength

ALGIERS — The Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (lower house of Parliament), Brahim Boughali, underscored on Tuesday in Algiers that the cohesion between the Algerian people and the People’s National Army (PNA) demonstrated the strength of the national internal front.

In a speech read on his behalf by the Assembly Vice-President, Ahcene Hani, at the opening of the parliamentary day on the theme “PNA: Rising to the Challenge of Modernization and Professionalization,” Boughali said that “the PNA is perfectly aligned with the people, demonstrating the strength of national cohesion and the solidity of the interior front.”

Boughali stressed that “the PNA remains vigilant against plots and conspiracies and stands ready to defend the country in any situation.”

He further said that the Army “has managed, throughout its journey, to establish security and set up a springboard for development in all domains.”

Touching upon the PNA’s professionalism, Boughali affirmed that the Army believes in regional and international cooperation while respecting the sovereignty of States, while being “fully aware of current regional challenges and ready to fulfill its duties to preserve security and peace.”

“The PNA, worthy heir to the National Liberation Army, remains faithful to the legacy of predecessors committed to national and human values, as it continues today on the path of professionalism, modernization and development,” he noted.
