Argentine Investigators Seize Hundreds of Medical Records in Ongoing Probe into Maradona’s Death

Investigators examining the death of football icon Diego Maradona have seized 300 medical records and over 500 emails from the Los Olivos clinic in Buenos Aires, where the Argentine legend received care before his death in 2020, according to media reports on Wednesday.
The raid, conducted by Buenos Aires provincial police at the request of prosecutors, followed conflicting court testimony between Pablo Dimitroff, the clinic’s medical director, and Fernando Villarejo, head of the intensive care unit. The operation aimed to retrieve key treatment documents from November 3 to 11, 2020, which had not been previously handed over to the court.
Authorities met with clinic officials and representatives from Swiss Medical, the company that owns the facility. Seven individuals, including Maradona’s neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque and psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, are currently facing charges of negligence resulting in death. Maradona passed away on November 25, 2020, from acute pulmonary edema related to chronic heart failure.
