Araqchi : ‘Israeli’ Aggression a Lethal Blow to Diplomacy and Non-Proliferation Treaty

Tehran – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi strongly condemned recent Zionist airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling them a “lethal blow to diplomacy, the rule of law, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).” His remarks came during the 17th BRICS Summit held on Sunday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Araqchi reaffirmed that Iran’s nuclear program has always been peaceful and remains under the most rigorous monitoring regime of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Despite this, he noted, both the United States and the Zionist entity carried out direct attacks on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

“These strikes are a blatant violation of the NPT and of UN Security Council Resolution 2231,” he said, referring to the 2015 resolution that unanimously endorsed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), confirming the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear activities. Araqchi’s statement at the BRICS platform underscores Iran’s growing diplomatic campaign to rally support against what it views as unlawful aggression targeting its sovereign rights.
