APU Condemns Illegal Measures Imposing New Reality in Occupied Palestinian Territories

The Arab Parliamentary Union (APU) has “strongly” condemned the illegal measures recently adopted by the Zionist occupation authorities to expand and strengthen settlements in the West Bank, calling them a “flagrant violation of international law and relevant international legality resolutions.” In a statement signed by the President of the APU and Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (Parliament’s Lower House), Brahim Boughali, the Union noted that “these settlement policies directly challenge the international community’s will and systematically undermine prospects for a just and comprehensive settlement based on the two-state solution and ending the occupation of Palestine.”
The Union also warned against “the continuation of the occupation’s expansionist and aggressive policies, which risk exacerbating tensions and instability in the region by forcibly imposing a new reality on the ground, in defiance of the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people.” Moreover, it urged the international community to fulfill its legal and moral obligations, take effective action to stop these violations, hold the occupation authorities accountable for their crimes, and provide international protection to the Palestinian people.
In conclusion, the Arab Parliamentary Union reaffirmed “its unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their inalienable right to self-determination, as well as to the establishment of their independent and sovereign state, in accordance with international legality resolutions.”
