The 12th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa (Oran Process) will be held on 1-2 December in Algiers at the ministerial level, and will be distinguished by Algeria’s dual participation in this meeting as an African member of the United Nations Security Council (A3) and as a member of the Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union (AU).
The event will include AU PSC members, current and rotating African members of the UN Security Council (the A3 group), friends of the Seminar, representatives from the AU Commission and the United Nations (UN), along with seminar partners.
The 2025 edition stands out with Algeria participating in a triple capacity, as an African member of the UN Security Council (A3), as a member of the AU’s Peace and Security Council, and as both host and founder of the Oran Seminar.
The High-Level Seminar will review the A3+ group’s achievements in fulfilling its AU mandate, identify urgent challenges and explore the best approaches to further bolster the A3+ role.
The seminar will also serve as a platform for constructive dialogue on various interconnected peace and security challenges facing the continent.
Established in 2013, at the initiative of Algeria, the High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa (Oran Process) has become an indispensable forum for discussing and reflecting on African peace and security issues, consistently working to advance joint African action.
