Algiers Port Launches First Rail Container Service

The first-ever rail container transport operation from the Port of Algiers has been launched, with containers transported to Rouiba area, with the aim of improving port operations and ensuring seamless, the Algerian Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport said Monday in a press release.

The operation, which took place on Sunday, involved the transport of 48 twenty-foot containers, representing “a significant step toward adopting modern, multimodal transport solutions and deploying the resources needed to improve container handling and ensure smooth cargo flow,” the press release said.

The initiative, aimed at boosting logistics efficiency and enhancing the performance of Algeria’s ports, was carried out “following directives from the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport Said Sayoud,” the source added.
