Algiers Hosts Algeria-Korea Economic Forum in Algiers

The Algeria-Korea Economic Forum took place on Wednesday in Algiers, bringing together investors and business leaders from both nations to explore cooperation and partnership opportunities across various sectors, with a particular emphasis on industry.

The event was organized by the Embassy of South Korea in Algeria in collaboration with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) under the theme “Global Industrial Partnership between Algeria and Korea.”The forum was attended by key figures, including the Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), Omar Rekkache, the Director General of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI), Ismail Chakib Kouidri, representatives from several Algerian government ministries, the Ambassador of South Korea to Algeria, You Ki-Jun, and the Director General of KOTRA-Algeria, Yang Myong Chol.

In his speech, Rekkache highlighted the promising opportunities for businesses and economic operators in Algeria and South Korea, particularly in technology, renewable energy, industrial inputs, manufacturing, and raw material development.

He emphasized Algeria’s commitment to fostering productive partnerships with Korean companies to enhance Korean investments in the country.

Rekkache also stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between AAPI and KOTRA by fully implementing their memorandum of understanding to improve coordination, facilitate information and expertise exchange, and boost investment flows between the two nations.

Similarly, Kouidri, the Director General of CACI, underscored the importance of deepening economic ties between Algeria and South Korea. He highlighted the shared commitment to forging economic and commercial partnerships based on expertise exchange and technology transfer, thereby expanding bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

Kouidri noted significant improvements in Algeria’s business climate, particularly following the introduction of a new investment law that offers numerous incentives and leverages the competitive advantages of both countries, according to a CACI communiqué.

The forum also featured business-to-business meetings between Algerian and Korean companies to explore investment and partnership opportunities, fostering stronger economic ties between the two nations.
