Algeria’s Minister of Energy Welcomes Venezuelan Vice President

Mohamed Arkab, Algeria’s Minister of Energy and Mines, welcomed Delcy Rodriguez, the Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Minister of Petroleum, during her technical layover at Algiers International Airport, as noted in a press release from the ministry on Friday.

The meeting occurred on Thursday in the presidential VIP lounge of Houari Boumediene International Airport, with attendance from the Venezuelan ambassador to Algeria and ministry officials.

“Tasked by the Venezuelan president, Ms. Rodriguez conveyed warm greetings from President Nicolas Maduro to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria, along with heartfelt wishes for the nation and its people on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Glorious Liberation Revolution. She reiterated her country’s commitment to strengthening and enhancing cooperation with Algeria,” the statement outlined.

The discussions focused on bilateral relations and strategies to enhance and develop them, particularly in energy and mining, notably within the hydrocarbons sector. Both parties praised the exceptional level of friendship and cooperation between their nations, reflecting the directives of their leaders.

Additionally, they explored collaboration and expertise exchange in the mining sector.

Arkab and Rodriguez also recognized the high level of dialogue and consultation between their countries, particularly within the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF). Their efforts aim to reinforce market stability for oil and gas to benefit both producers and consumers while enhancing technical cooperation and training through the Gas Research Institute in Algeria, affiliated with the GECF.

Moreover, “Ms. Rodriguez expressed her country’s strong interest in bolstering cooperation with Algeria and intensifying economic consultations and the exchange of expertise, especially in the energy sector,” the source concluded.
