Algeria’s Mansouri Participates in the NEPAD Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee (Press Release)

ALGIERS, February 11, 2025 – Algerian Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of African Affairs, Selma Bakhta Mansouri, represented President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Monday during the 42nd session of the Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD). This session was conducted virtually under the presidency of Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, according to a communiqué from the ministry.
In her address, Mansouri reaffirmed Algeria’s steadfast commitment to enhancing continental cooperation, developing infrastructure, and achieving economic sovereignty for Africa. She emphasized the importance of major projects as catalysts for sustainable development, specifically mentioning “the Trans-Saharan Highway and the Trans-Saharan fiber optic backbone.”
Mansouri noted that Algeria has successfully completed its section of the Trans-Saharan Highway and is collaborating with neighboring countries to establish it as an economic corridor aimed at promoting trade and investment.
Furthermore, she underscored the significance of the Trans-Saharan fiber optic backbone in facilitating the continent’s digital transformation, enhancing connectivity among African nations, and strengthening their digital infrastructure, as indicated in the communiqué.
