Lounes Magramane, Secretary General of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, welcomed Gilles Carbonnier, Vice President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), on Tuesday in Algiers. This meeting coincided with Magramane’s participation in the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IDBG), as stated by the ministry.
The discussion served as a platform to review the strong and privileged relationship between Algeria and the ICRC, as well as to explore ways to enhance cooperation in the field of international humanitarian law, particularly in light of the challenging humanitarian situations faced by various regions around the globe.
Additionally, both parties addressed recent developments at regional and international levels, focusing specifically on issues related to Western Sahara, the occupied Palestinian territories, and the Sahel region, the statement concluded.
