Algeria’s Housing Sector Achieves Record Deliveries in 2024, Launches New Programs

ALGIERS – The Housing sector continued its accelerated momentum in 2024, reaching a record level of deliveries with nearly 450,000 houses distributed across the country’s various provinces, in addition to the launch of the 3rd “AADL 3” rental-purchase program, launched to address the growing demand of middle-income citizens.

The sector’s performance for 2024 reveals qualitative progress, with 449,832 units delivered according to data provided by the Ministry of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City, compared to 200,000 units in 2020, 320,000 units in 2021, 400,000 units in 2022, and 330,000 units in 2023.

A large part of these achievements was accomplished during two major events: the first, took place on the occasion of Independence Day on July 5, where 251,890 housing units have been delivered.

The second took place during the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Glorious Revolution on November 1, with 102,136 units allocated.

These distributions included several housing formulas: public rental (social housing), rental-purchase (AADL), subsidized promotional housing (LPA), rural housing, social housing lots, and public housing (LPP).

The various programs thus aim to meet the needs of citizens according to their income categories.

With nearly 450,000 housing units allocated this year, the Housing sector has surpassed 1.7 million units delivered between 2020 and 2024.

The sector is also preparing the ground for a new program, aimed at delivering 2 million housing units, in accordance with the commitments made by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

This plan notably includes the launch of a new rental-purchase housing program, managed by the National Agency for Housing Improvement and Development (AADL).
