
ALGIERS – Algerian President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defense, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, appointed on Monday, through a presidential decree, members of the government led by Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui. This reshuffle includes the creation of new ministerial portfolios and the appointment of new national competencies.
In this regard, the President renewed his confidence in some government members, notably the key ministers.
Additionally, he appointed new national experts as ministers, deputy ministers, and secretaries of state. He also assigned the Chief of Staff of the Algerian People’s National Army, General of the Army Saïd Chanegriha, as Deputy Minister to the Minister of National Defense.
A new position of Minister of State was assigned to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, as well as to the Minister of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energy.
The reshuffle introduced Lotfi Boudjemaa as Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, replacing Abderrachid Tabi, who has been reassigned to other duties.
Mohamed Seghir Saâdaoui was appointed Minister of National Education, and Zouhir Ballalou, Minister of Culture and Arts.
Among the newly appointed national experts is Mustapha Hidaoui, named Minister of Youth and tasked with supervising the Higher Youth Council.
Moreover, Walid Sadi was appointed Minister of Sports, and Sid Ali Zerrouki was appointed Minister of Post and Telecommunications.
The new government also includes Sifi Ghrieb as Minister of Industry, Mohamed Boukhari as Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, and Mohamed Meziane as Minister of Communication. Saïd Sayoud was appointed Minister of Transport, replacing Mohamed El Habib Zahana, who has been reassigned.
For her part, Houria Meddahi became Minister of Tourism and Craft Industry, Nadjiba Djilali was named Minister of Environment and Quality of Life, and Noureddine Ouadah was appointed Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-Enterprises.
Under the same decree, the President assigned additional portfolios within the government. Former Minister of Culture and Arts, Soraya Mouloudji, became Minister of National Solidarity, Family, and Women’s Affairs. Former Minister of Solidarity, Kaoutar Krikou, was named Minister of Relations with Parliament.
Former Minister of Knowledge Economy, Yacine El-Mahdi Oualid, was appointed Minister of Vocational Training and Education.
A Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion was established under Mohamed Boukhari, along with a Ministry of Domestic Trade and National Market Regulation, led by Tayeb Zitouni.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs now includes a Secretariat of State for African Affairs, led by Selma Bakhta Mansouri.
Additionally, Sofiane Chaib was named Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad.
A Secretariat of State for Mines was created under the Ministry of Energy, to be managed by Karima Tafer.
However, Noureddine Yassaa was appointed Secretary of State for Renewable Energy under the same ministry, a position also established by the presidential decree.
A delegated ministry for Pharmaceutical Production was set up under the Ministry of Industry and will be led by Fouad Hadji.
The reshuffle also split the Ministry of Youth and Sports into two separate departments: one for Youth and another for Sports.
The President reaffirmed his trust in Taha Derbal to lead the Ministry of Water Resources, formerly known as the Ministry of Hydraulics.
Lastly, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development now inculdes the sector Fishing and Fisheries, while the Ministry of Tourism and Craft Indusrty has been renamed the Ministry of Tourism and Handicraft Trades.
