Algeria’s FM Meets Ugandan President Museveni in Kampala

Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, was received Wednesday in Kampala by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni during his official visit to attend the Non-Aligned Movement ministerial meeting, according to the Algerian Foreign Ministry.

Attaf delivered a written message from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, “conveying his fraternal greetings and deep appreciation for your efforts in serving the African continent and leading the Non-Aligned Movement,” the ministry said. Tebboune also expressed his commitment “to continue working with you to strengthen the relations between our two brotherly countries.”

Museveni, in turn, asked Attaf to convey “his warm regards to President Tebboune” and expressed “pride in our shared commitment to consolidating Algerian-Ugandan relations and in our constant dedication to defending the interests and priorities of Africa, and of developing countries in general,” the statement added.

The ministry noted that the meeting allowed both sides to “review the increasing dynamism in Algeria-Uganda relations across various sectors and levels,” with both leaders emphasizing their desire “to achieve further progress and elevate ties to a level befitting their historical significance and promising potential.”
