Algeria’s Desert Warriors Seal 2026 World Cup Qualification

ORAN, Oct 9, 2025 – Algeria qualified on Thursday for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be held next summer in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, after defeating Somalia 3–0 (halftime 2–0) at the Miloud-Hadefi Stadium in Oran, in a match counting for the ninth and penultimate day (Group G) of the qualifiers.
The goals were scored by Amoura (5’, 57’) and Mahrez (18’).
With this victory, Algeria officially tops Group G of the qualifiers with 22 points, four ahead of Uganda (2nd, 18 pts), who won away against Botswana (1–0).
Somalia remains bottom of the group with a single point, with one match left to play. Mozambique lost at home to Guinea (1–2) and dropped to third place.
This marks Algeria’s fifth participation in the World Cup, following the 1982, 1986, 2010, and 2014 editions.
