Algeria’s Army: New Director General of External Security

On Wednesday, Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army of Algeria (ANP), officiated the appointment of General Rochdi Fethi Moussaoui as the new Director General of Documentation and External Security. He succeeds Major General Mehena Djebbar in this role, as announced by the Algerian Ministry of National Defense.
“In the name of the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defense, and in accordance with the presidential decree dated September 19, 2024, I hereby officially appoint General Rochdi Fethi Moussaoui as the Director General of Documentation and External Security, succeeding Major General Mehena Djebbar. I also instruct you to operate under his authority and execute his orders and directives in service to our nation, in compliance with military regulations and current republican laws. Let us remain committed to honoring the sacrifices of our brave martyrs and uphold the values of our Glorious Revolution,” stated the Ministry’s announcement.
This occasion allowed the Army General to provide a set of instructions and guidelines to the personnel of the Directorate, urging them to continue their dedicated efforts to serve Algeria and protect its paramount interests. He encouraged them to support their new leader and assist him in fulfilling his responsibilities, emphasizing the importance of committing fully and faithfully to their assigned duties with the necessary rigor and perseverance.
The Army General commended Major General Mehena Djebbar for his outstanding qualities and significant contributions to the military institution, recognizing him as a dedicated servant of the Nation and defender of the Republic. He underscored Mehena’s effective handling of responsibilities throughout his professional career, which showcased his high competence, proven professionalism, and exceptional ability to address various challenges meticulously.
Following this, the Army General oversaw the ceremony for the approval of the handover report, concluding the statement from the Ministry of National Defense.
