DJANET – The majestic Algerian Sahara, renowned for its otherworldly landscapes and rich cultural heritage, welcomes international tourists once again with the launch of the 2024/2025 Saharan tourism season. Direct flights from Paris’ Charles-De-Gaulle Airport to Cheikh Amoud Ben Mokhtar Airport in Djanet resumed on Sunday, transporting the first group of travelers to the stunning destination known as the “Tassili Pearl.” This marks the third consecutive season for these flights, a testament to Algeria’s commitment to showcasing its Sahara as a premier destination.
In line with Algeria’s dedication to promoting Saharan tourism, an array of facilitation measures ensures a warm and seamless experience for visitors. Tourists are offered on-site entry visas at Djanet’s airport, thanks to a streamlined single-window service introduced last season to facilitate easier access to the desert’s breathtaking sights. The Directorate of Tourism and Craft Industry (DTA), along with airport staff, border police, and other essential services, have worked together to guarantee smooth entry procedures. According to sector director Lamine Hammadi, these enhancements reflect Algeria’s dedication to providing a world-class experience, drawing more international visitors to discover the magic of the Sahara.
With effortless access, guided exploration, and unique services awaiting them, visitors to Djanet are set to experience the captivating beauty of the Algerian Sahara’s sweeping dunes, ancient rock art, and the vibrant Tuareg culture. This season promises an influx of adventurers eager to explore the timeless wonders of Algeria’s desert, reaffirming the country’s standing as an exceptional Saharan destination that blends hospitality, accessibility, and the awe-inspiring natural beauty of one of the world’s most remarkable landscapes.
