Algerian Presidential Candidates Emphasize Preserving National Unity

In the lead-up to Algeria’s presidential election on September 7, candidates have underscored the importance of national unity and stability. Algerian presidential Candidates and their representatives articulated their commitment to these principles, urging a high voter turnout.

Youcef Aouchiche, representing the Socialist Forces Front (FFS), called for the preservation and strengthening of national unity. Speaking in Tizi-Ouzou, Aouchiche emphasized that his presidential project would address Algerians’ aspirations and align with the principles of the Declaration of November 1, 1954, and the 1956 Soummam Congress resolutions. His platform includes political reforms such as the separation of powers and enhancements in the justice and economic sectors. Aouchiche urged voters to mobilize on September 7 to support his vision for a democratic Algeria.

Brahim Merad, campaign director for independent candidate Abdelmadjid Tebboune, highlighted Tebboune’s focus on comprehensive development, including improvements in healthcare, housing, and job creation. Merad detailed Tebboune’s plans to generate 450,000 jobs, increase salaries, and implement major infrastructure projects. He called on citizens to vote for Tebboune to continue the progress achieved during his first term.

Abdelkrim Benmbarek of the National Liberation Front (FLN) and Mustapha Yahi of the National Democratic Rally (RND) endorsed Tebboune, emphasizing his capability to tackle national challenges and improve economic conditions. Similarly, Abdelkader Bengrina from the El Bina National Movement supported Tebboune for his role in unifying the nation and reinforcing the internal front.

Abdelaali Hassani Cherif of the Movement of Society for Peace (MSP) focused on national unity and stability, promising economic reforms and support for youth entrepreneurship. He outlined his plans for resource exploitation and narrowing inequalities.

Mohamed Douibi of the Ennahda Movement supported Hassani Cherif’s candidacy, noting that his program offers a chance for reform and addresses youth employment concerns. Overall, candidates are advocating for national unity, stability, and high voter participation in the upcoming election.
