ALGIERS – Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune sent a condolence message on Saturday to the family of Professor Rachid Bougherbal, a former member of the Council of the Nation.
“With deep sorrow and grief over the loss of Algeria’s dearly departed, the brother and friend, Professor Bougherbal Rachid, I extend to you my sincerest condolences and heartfelt sympathy, as well as to the entire medical and scientific community,” the message read.
“With this great loss, Algeria has lost one of its finest sons in the field of medicine—someone who dedicated his life to public health and the advancement of scientific knowledge, particularly in his specialty, cardiology. Throughout his career, the late professor was a giver, training generations of skilled doctors, especially during his time as the head of the cardiology department at the specialized hospital ‘Maouche Mohand Amokran’ (formerly). Today, we can only pray for him, asking Almighty God to reward him for his service and to forgive him, placing him among the righteous in the highest places. To God we belong, and to Him is our return,” the Algerian President added.
