Algerian President Reviews the National Startup Ecosystem

During his speech at the opening of the 3rd African Startup Conference on Thursday, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune emphasized the significant progress Algeria has made since 2020 in establishing a knowledge-based economy. He underscored the unprecedented incentive measures introduced to support individuals, particularly the youth, who aspire to invest, enabling them to transform their ideas into viable projects that contribute to wealth creation and tackle various challenges.

In remarks delivered on his behalf by Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui, the President noted that this initiative has positioned Algeria prominently within Africa, thanks to comprehensive and transformative economic reforms that have made startups a crucial driver of economic recovery. This is evidenced by the establishment of a dedicated fund to support startups, the development of communication channels between educational and research institutions and the business sector, as well as the creation of several entities focused on enhancing training related to innovation—especially in artificial intelligence, which has received increased attention, as reflected in this edition’s theme.
